 GREATNESS OF ANNADHAAN - FOOD DISTRIBUTION!

The topmost dhaan among all the types of dhaan is Annadhaan.

The scriptures have explained greatly about annadhaan.

Let us see some of them:

(1) Annam Nasindhaaayath - Do not blaspame food.

(2) Annam Naparisakshitha: - Do not insult food.

(3) Why the world is still existing? Because still there are people who share the food with others though they get nectar from heaven.

(4)When Lord Rama was in Vanavas, one day, He could not get food at all. At that time, Rama told Lakshmana:  "Brother Lakshmana! We can not get something that we did not earn. We can not get it with our tricks and weapons. We can not enjoy something that we did not give to others".  This shows the greatness of sharing the food.

(5) Pavishya Purana says:  "Dhadhasvannam; Dhadhasvannam; Dhadhasvannam uthishtaraga:" meaning "Donate food;  Donate food'  Donate food tirelessly"

(6) Krishna says:  "Those who eats without sharing food with others eat only sinful food"

(7) Mahabharatha says:  "One should also offer water dhaan to others. He gets eternal fame and desires fulfilled."

(8) Rig veda says:  "Those who offer dhaan get life in heavenly planets."

(9) Dhaan is the yuga dharma for kaliyuga.

(10) Mahavishnu says:   "One who donates water conquers athma;  One who donates food gives athma to others. Those who donate honey, ghee, oil, medicines, etc, gets good health. Those who donates salt get body beauty.  Those who donate grains gets family peace and happiness"
